GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced its 2008 award winners for the baseball regular season. Defiance took home a pair of accolades, as second-year players Tim Pitro and Kirk Jesse were each named All-Heartland Conference.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Defiance dropped its final baseball game of the season on Sunday, falling 9-7 to the College of Mount St. Joseph. The MSJ victory clinched the HCAC regular season title for the Lions.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Defiance traveled to Springfield on Wednesday night to take on the Wittenberg Tigers in a non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets only trailed 6-4 through five innings, before taking the 17-4 loss.

The Yellow Jackets made the most of it with an 8-6 victory at Ohio Northern, overcoming an early 2-1 deficit and scoring four times in the sixth to back up a strong start on the mound from Aaron Stewart.
