GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced its 2008 award winners for the baseball regular season. Defiance took home a pair of accolades, as second-year players Tim Pitro and Kirk Jesse were each named All-Heartland Conference.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Aaron Stewart highlighted a 13-run outburst by Defiance in the second game of DCs doubleheader at Mount St. Joseph, but it was not enough as the Jackets fell 15-13. MSJ won the opener by a 7-2 score on Saturday afternoon.

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and had the potential game-winning run on the bases on Tuesday, before Ohio Northern recorded the final out and took the 6-5 win over the Yellow Jackets at Craig Rutter Field.

Kahsen Homers as Jackets Fall Short at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Casey Kahsen belted his first collegiate home run as Defiance and Anderson locked horns in an HCAC slugfest on Friday afternoon. The two sides combined for 28 runs on 33 hits in nine innings, with the Ravens coming out on top, 16-12.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Defiance traveled to Springfield on Wednesday night to take on the Wittenberg Tigers in a non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets only trailed 6-4 through five innings, before taking the 17-4 loss.

Bluffton Rallies for 10-9 Win Over Jackets

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance held an 8-2 lead after six innings of play on Tuesday against Bluffton, but the Beavers rallied for four runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth to steal the 10-9 victory at Rutter Field.

Engineers Complete Sweep of Defiance at Rutter Field

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance hosted Rose-Hulman in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Rutter Field, falling 12-0 and 13-1 to the Engineers. The second game was called after five innings due to inclement weather.

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance got home runs from Kirk Jesse and David Riley and had seven players record at least one hit, but fell by an 18-7 score to Rose-Hulman on Friday. The game was the first of a three-game series between the teams at Rutter Field.

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Manchester used a pair of home runs and a Defiance error to plate seven runs on only five hits as it edged the Yellow Jackets, 7-5, on Tuesday at Craig Rutter Field. DC pounded out 10 hits, but stranded 11 runners on the base paths in the loss.

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance left nine men on base on Sunday, including three in the ninth inning as it suffered a 4-0 loss to Transylvania. The Yellow Jackets rapped out seven hits and had two reach after getting hit by a pitch, but failed to dent the scoring column.

ADA, Ohio -- The DC baseball team finally took the field again on Tuesday after waiting through a week of weather-related cancellations. The Yellow Jackets made the most of it with an 8-6 victory at Ohio Northern, overcoming an early 2-1 deficit and scoring four times in the sixth to back up a strong start on the mound from Aaron Stewart.
