FRANKLIN, Ind. -- One day after suffering a shutout loss, the Yellow Jackets offense managed just four total runs in Saturdays doubleheader against a red-hot Franklin team. Defiance lost 8-2 and 5-2 as the Grizzlies ran their win streak out to eight-straight games.

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- One day after suffering a shutout loss, the Yellow Jackets offense managed just four total runs in Saturdays doubleheader against a red-hot Franklin team. Defiance lost 8-2 and 5-2 as the Grizzlies ran their win streak out to eight-straight games.
Defiance was one-hit in the opener at Saturday, with Tim Pitro collecting the lone hit and RBI for the Jackets in the 8-2 defeat. Defiance tallied a single run in the third and fifth innings, but Franklin jumped on top with three in the first and two in the second en route to the six-run win.
Matt Wilson worked five innings for Defiance in the game-one loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks. Nate White tossed the sixth frame for DC and yielded one run in relief.
Franklin used a four-run third inning in the second game to grab a 4-0 advantage and went on to take the 5-2 victory. DC had seven hits in the game but only managed single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Kirk Jesse and Keith Wade each had RBI singles to pace the offense for Defiance. Brad Timofeev held the Grizzlies to five earned runs in seven innings on the mound, while Matt Kaighin pitched a perfect eighth inning.
Defiance falls to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the HCAC with the losses on Saturday, while Franklin ups its record to 10-5 and 3-0 in league play.
DC will face another stiff road challenge on Tuesday when it takes on Manchester at 4:15 pm.
