GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the second year in a row, DC has claimed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week to kick off the opening weekend. Senior Chelsea Ludeman was selected for the award after her outstanding performance at the Otterbein/Capital Volleyball Tournament.
Junior setter Alicia Kalik was chosen in last year's campaign and was a big reason for Ludeman's success this past weekend. The outside hitter was dominant over four matches, ringing up 85 kills on a .328 attack percentage. In her 18 sets of action, Ludeman swatted a whopping 4.72 kills per set. To top off her tournament performance, the senior was also solid at the defensive end and collected 22 total blocks to finish with the second most on the squad.
This was the second time in Ludeman's career that she has received this honor, as she grabbed the same title in the 2012 campaign for the week of October 15-21. For her efforts, the Napoleon, Ohio native was also chosen as a member of the Otterbein/Capital Tournament All-Tournament Team. It was the first time in Ludeman's four years with the Yellow Jackets that she has been selected for an invitational or tournament team.
The Purple and Gold volleyball team will be back to the court for its home-opener tomorrow Wednesday, September 4 against the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers. Game time is slated to kick off at 7 pm.
