Rochester downs Lady Jackets

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Lady Jackets couldn't quite catch Rochester late in the game and lose to the Warriors, 2-1.  The Lady Jackets fall to 2-5-1 on the year.

Defiance's defense allowed only six shots on goal on the day, though two of them found goal which proved to be enough for the win.  Sarah Economeas played hero for the warriors as she scored both goals, one in each half.

Down 2-0 with just under ten minutes to go, senior Karly Smith cut the lead in half.  With the Lady Jackets pushing up in desperate need of a goal, Smith was able to take it away from a defender and unload a shot from 18 yards out.  The ball found the bottom right of the goal and gave Defiance its only goal on the day.  It marked Smith's fourth goal of the season.

Defiance out shot the Warriors 14-9 along with 8-6 on goal.  Defiance travels to Oberlin on Wednesday.  Kickoff is at 6 pm.
