New bowling program inks first signee
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The new Defiance College women's bowling team officially secured the program's first recruit in Bryan High School senior Ashley Grymonprez, who signed her letter of intent on Wednesday.
Grymonprez earned Second Team All-NWOAL during Bryan's conference championship season in 2024-25 and helped propel the team to the OHSAA State Tournament last weekend. The Bryan senior went on to bowl a 623 series at state and earned Second Team All-Ohio. While the Golden Bears fell in the state semifinals, the team qualified for state for the fifth time and won their 10th NWOAL title in 14 years.
"We're very excited that our first recruit comes from Bryan, where I have coached for the past 15 years," says head coach Doug Miller. "Ashley will help DC become one of the best teams in the WHAC and is the type of teammate you can build a program around."
The Yellow Jackets begin intercollegiate competition in women's bowling during the upcoming academic year in 2025-26.
