Davis sets lifetime best and DC record to lead DC at Calvin meet
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Joe Davis led the way for the Defiance College Men's Cross Country team at the Calvin College Pre-Regional Meet, setting a new lifetime best and DC Men's 8k record Saturday morning.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Joe Davis led the way for the Defiance College Men's Cross Country team at the Calvin College Pre-Regional Meet, setting a new lifetime best and DC Men's 8k record Saturday morning.
Davis, a senior for the Yellow Jackets, set the Defiance College Men's 8k record in the race, breaking the previous record by 22 seconds, finishing in a time of 25:44.6. Davis crossed the line in 23rd place overall out of 336 runners entered in the event from 33 teams.
Josh Hilton scored second for the Yellow Jackets, crossing the line with a time of 27:50.8 to score 105th in the event.
Troy Parrett and Colin Krick finished back-to-back with times of 28:09.6 and 28:10.3, respectively, scoring 118th and 119th.
Clayton Bruggeman rounded out the scoring for Defiance, finishing 128th overall with a time 28:26.6.
Defiance finished with 488 points in the event, finishing 16th overall as a team.
The Yellow Jackets will now set their sights on the Otterbein Invitational next weekend. The race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21 in Westerville, Ohio.
