Davis, Defiance take 5th at 2013 HCAC Championships
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College hosted the 2013 HCAC Championships on Saturday and senior Joe Davis led the way for the Yellow Jackets.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College hosted the 2013 HCAC Championships on Saturday and senior Joe Davis led the way for the Yellow Jackets.
Davis took fifth overall with a 26:25.7 in the Men's 8,000-meter event. The senior paced a 5:19/mile in the event. Davis's finish on Saturday also earned him HCAC All-Conference recognition.
Madison Murphy took second place for Defiance in the championships, which were held on the campus of Defiance College. The senior paced a 5:29 mile for a finishing time of 27:17.6. Murphy scored 22nd overall in the meet.
Josh Hilton and Clayton Bruggeman scored in the next two positions for Defiance in 31st and 37th place. Hilton crossed the line with a time of 28.03.3, scoring third for the Yellow Jackets. Bruggeman crossed the line a few seconds later with a 28:24.4.
Colin Krick rounded out the scoring for Defiance on the rainy day, scoring 42nd overall. Bussard crossed the line with a 28:44.7.
Defiance scored fifth overall in the event with 137 points.
Adam Grillot was named to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship team as well on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets will now set their sights on the NCAA Regional Championships in two weeks on November 16th.
