DC falls on the road 8-1 to Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich - Another slow offensive showing got the best of the Defiance College Yellow Jackets as they fell 8-1 on the road to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils at Blue Devils Stadium Saturday. 

Lawrence Tech's (4-5-2, 2-1-2 WHAC) Reece Still hit the back of the net first just past the 20-minute mark of the first half to put his team up 1-0. Still's goal was followed up by three back-to-back-to-back shots by the Blue Devils until another found its way in in the 31st minute by Guillermo Garcia. The Yellow Jackets (0-12, 0-6 WHAC) responded immediately with a Will Gehlhausen shot, which was saved by Lawrence Tech goalkeeper Goncalo Duraes, leaving DC scoreless. In the 35th minute, the Blue Devils made their third and final of the period to lead 3-0.

Under four minutes into the second half, Garcia put in his second score on Defiance goalkeeper Zach Canterbury. Alexander Prenkocevic tacked on another in the 67th minute, yet three minutes later, Anthony Tomaszewski put one in for the Yellow Jackets — their first goal since Sept. 1 against Olivet and Tomaszewski's first of his collegiate career. The Blue Devils rounded out the scoring with three more goals to end the match. 

The Turning Point

Despite scoring a sole goal in the match, Tomaszewski put a stop to the DC scoring drought that lasted through six games. The Yellow Jackets became more aggressive on offense for the remainder of the match.
