DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets fell in their first home conference against the No. 17 team in the NAIA, the Indiana Tech Warriors, by a score of 10-0 at Winsper-Knobel Field on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in WHAC play on the season while the Warriors improved to 3-1-2 and 2-0 in conference. Wednesday's match was the two between the two schools in 23 years (Oct. 1, 2001). The Warriors pressed early and often as they wanted to continue a strong start to their season, resulting in peppering 51 shots.
The Turning Point
The Warriors were held at bay early on as they pressed for a goal, but they managed to break through in the 12th minute off a cross by Andreas Michael into the box finding Mark McDavid for a header. This goal started the Warriors stream with Xambos Statiotis scoring a header off a corner by Alex Mihov just eight minutes later. The Warriors had five goals in each half and 10 different players put the ball in the back of the net.
