The guard tandem of Wolfrum and Brown was especially lethal during Defiance's six-game win streak to close the regular season, combining to net 30.3 points per outing for 49.5 percent of the Jackets' scoring output during that stretch. In those six victories, Wolfrum and Brown shot a collective 53.3 percent from the field and 46.8 percent from beyond the arc to push Defiance past Franklin and Manchester in the league standings and into the HCAC Tournament.
Wolfrum netted his second-straight First-Team All-HCAC nod and his third All-HCAC award in three seasons by leading the Purple and Gold in scoring, assists, steals, minutes and games started as a junior. The Defiance, Ohio, native ranked second in the conference with 17.4 points, third with 3.3 assists, fourth with 1.3 assists-to-turnovers and fifth with 1.1 steals per contest, while also ranking top-10 in three-point shots made per game (1.7), three-point percentage (41.7) and minutes played per outing (32.7).
Along with showing up among the HCAC's finest in nearly every statistical category, Wolfrum shot 49.0 percent from the field, poured in 10 games of at least 20 points, became DC's 21st member of the 1,300-point club and earned his seventh HCAC Player-of-the-Week accolade during the 2011-2012 campaign. Wolfrum also developed into one of the league's best closers, knocking down five game-winning shots for Defiance and shooting 80.0 percent during the final one minute of games won by DC this season.
Brown capped his outstanding four-year career with the Yellow Jackets by taking his third-straight Honorable Mention All-HCAC honor and earning a spot on the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team as a senior. The Glenview, Ill., native ended second on Defiance with 10.7 points per game and topped the squad with 45 hits from beyond the arc at an HCAC-leading, 45.5-percent clip. Brown fueled his charge up to 28th on DC's all-time scoring chart with 1,184 points by reaching double figures in nine-of-10 games to end the year. Brown shot a crisp 51.6 percent from deep during that stretch and earned his first HCAC Player-of-the-Week honor in the final week of the regular season.
Defiance ended the 2011-2012 campaign with a 13-13 overall mark, after closing the year with an 11-6 record. The Jackets are poised to return 11 lettermen from the squad for 2012-2013, with the hopes of notching DC's seventh-straight season without a losing record.
