
Esports Rundown: Rocket League remains unbeaten in NECC
DEFIANCE, Ohio - In a relatively light week for the Esports program, the Yellow Jackets entered spring break on a high note with a pair of victories for the Rocket League teams in NECC competition.
The Yellow Jackets trio of Asa Moledor, Cooper Sloan and Andre Tibbs battled undefeated Lakeland last Thursday who had not dropped a game entering the matchup with Defiance. The battle of unbeaten was claimed by Defiance with a 3-1 series win (4-2, 2-6, 5-1, 3-1) to improve to 3-0 on the spring campaign. Tibbs led the way with five goals and five assists while Sloan and Moledor netted four goals apiece. The Gold Team was set to play Detroit Mercy but a no-show forfeit awarded DC with their second win in their division of NECC Rocket League play.
In Valorant play, the Yellow Jackets fell to Rochester Christian in a 2-0 series loss. Auston Howland led the team in kills with 26 followed by 18 from Daniel Aranovsky.
At the midpoint of the spring season, Defiance is 1-5 in Valorant and 1-4 in Overwatch in the WHAC standings. Aside from the aforementioned Rocket League teams in the NECC, Defiance is 2-3 in Valorant play with one more match to go before conference quarterfinals begin the week of March 24.
