Bobek named WHAC Player of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College senior baseball player Tim Bobek was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week following a standout showing over the weekend, the conference announced on Monday.
In the Yellow Jackets' four-game series against Grace College in Hoover, Ala., the Springfield graduate was a tough out by going 7-for-9 with four extra-base hits and six RBIs. Bobek delivered a pair of RBI doubles in their 9-1 win over the Lancers last Thursday, which was the team's first victory of the season. In his second three-hit game of the series, Bobek legged out two triples and totaled four RBIs in the game as well. Bobek produced his first two three-hit games of his career and set a new single-game high for RBIs. He currently leads the team with a .467 average, .867 slugging percentage, 6 RBIs, and 7 hits in five games.
The Player of the Week Awards gives DC baseball the team's first weekly baseball award as a member of the WHAC. Going back to last season, Defiance has now had two conference player of the week awards in their last three weeks of competition (Gunner Gregg, HCAC Hitter of the Week, May 5, 2024).
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday with a four-game series at Alice Lloyd.
