Baseball picks up non-conference win at Albion
The Defiance baseball team defeated Albion in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening by a score of 10-8.

Inside The Numbers
- Senior Nate Kaffenbarger went 3-4 with a double and four RBIs.
- Sophomore Hunter Bostater went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs.
- Sophomore Trent Murdock drove in two runs as well.
- Senior Alex Morr reached base four times on a hit and three walks.
- Senior Lucas Thomeier doubled and walked twice.
- Freshman Sam Thombs threw three innings out of the bullpen and earned his first career win.
- Mark Lauro and Chris Marshall each had two hits and drove in two runs.
- Pete Loch took the loss for Albion.
The Difference
- The Yellow Jackets scored two runs in the first off RBI singles from Kaffenbarger and Murdock.
- Albion answered in three runs in the bottom of the frame.
- Defiance responded with three runs in the top of the second to take the lead and added two more in the fourth off an RBI double by Bostater and a sac fly by Murdock.
- Albion added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth before Bostater drove in a run for DC in the top of the sixth. The hosts answered with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to make the Defiance lead 8-7.
- Kaffenbarger gave the Purple and Gold some breathing room with a two-run double in the top of the seventh.
- The Britons threatened in the bottom of the ninth and cut the lead to 10-8 but senior Kendall Duval was able to close out the game to secure a win for Defiance.
