DEFIANCE, Ohio – Levi Pauli has been voted by the Defiance College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the third winner of the SAAC Sportsmanship Award. The honor is part of the NCAA's ongoing Respect Campaign and will be announced every two weeks throughout the remainder of the spring semester.
Student-athletes are nominated for the honor by their head coach and the winner is determined by the vote of the Defiance College SAAC members. To be nominated, the student-athlete must be involved in an in-season sport and must consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout their season.
Pauli was nominated by baseball head coach Derek Woodley, who said, "Levi is very deserving of this award due to his tremendous work ethic and his attitude as a team player." Woodley added, "He is always the first player off the bench to congratulate a good play or to high five a teammate for a job well done. He is always willing to volunteer to help out, one of the first players at practice and usually one of the last two leave. Levi is a consummate team player."
Pauli and the Yellow Jackets are off to a 12-11 start to the 2010 campaign.
