DC’s Gallant Honored as HCAC Pitcher of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Monday that it has selected Defiance College’s Tyler Gallant as the league’s Pitcher of the Week. The award is the first for the freshman hurler and the second for the Yellow Jackets this season.

Gallant was a key cog out of the DC pen, earning the win in the team's thrilling, 5-4, win over Manchester on Tuesday and holding the No. 3 Heidelberg's powerful lineup scoreless over 3.1 innings and striking out four in a 3-1 loss on Friday.
For the week, Gallant went 1-0 and posted an unblemished earned-run average of 0.00 during his two appearances and 4.1 innings of work on the hill. The Lima, Ohio, native held the opposition to a .231 batting average, posted a 1.15 WHIP and retired five batters on strikes.
Gallant currently owns the lowest ERA on the DC pitching staff with a 3.00 mark over 12 innings this season. Gallant boasts a 2-0 record and nine strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .268 average over his seven appearances.
Gallant and the Jackets (11-11, 4-4 HCAC) will be back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Earlham for a single game beginning at 5:00 pm.
