2009 at Defiance: Burst onto the collegiate scene by batting .471 with seven runs scored through first seven games with Defiance … Went on to start 22 games for the Jackets despite battling nagging injuries … Was hit by a pitch 10 times to tie for the team lead … Ranked fifth on the squad with a .284 average … Started in six of DC’s seven wins, posting a .389 average and leading the team with a .611 slugging percentage, .560 on-base percentage and 1.171 OPS during those contests … Also excelled with the glove, turning in a .989 fielding percentage at first base for the eighth-highest, single-season fielding percentage in school history.
