Timofeev Garners HCAC Recognition for Efforts on the Mound

For the week, Timofeev was 2-0 with a 0.64 earned run average and a 0.57 WHIP (number of walks and hits allowed per inning) in 14 innings of work. The sophomore hurler retired five batters on strikes and only allowed one extra-base hit while holding the opposition to a paltry .152 batting average.
Timofeev dazzled in his first start of the season, going the distance and giving up just one hit in seven shutout innings of DCs 5-0 win against Fontbonne. The Oregon, Ohio, native needed only 77 pitches against 24 batters to complete the one-hit performance.
The sophomore transfer added another strong outing on Friday, capping Defiances stay in Port Charlotte with a 12-9 win over Stevens Tech. Timofeev notched his second victory in as many starts after leaving the game with a 12-2 lead. Timofeev scattered six hits in seven full innings and allowed just one earned run.
Timofeev was nearly as impressive with the bat, sparking the Yellow Jackets offense from the fourth spot in the lineup. Timofeev is currently batting a healthy .364 and leads the squad with a robust .955 OPS (on base and slugging percentages combined).
Timofeev and DC (4-6) will play a non-conference tune up at Grace College on Tuesday at 4:00 pm before opening play in the HCAC with a road series at Transylvania on Friday and Saturday.
