Women's Basketball falls in tough battle against Anderson

The Defiance women's basketball team fell in a tough HCAC battle against Anderson at home on Wednesday night, 77-67.

The Basics

• Leading the Yellow Jackets was senior Taylor Day with 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out five assists.
• Junior Taylor Steinbrunner added 14 points during the contest.
• Junior Lexie Sparks chipped in 11 points off the bench.
• Sophomore Katlin Barrett scored eight points for Defiance and blocked two shots.

• With the score 19-17, the Yellow Jackets went on a 11-6 run to end the first half and take a 30-23 lead.
• Anderson used a big third quarter to climb their way back into the game and tie it all up at 42 heading into the final quarter.
• The Ravens used a big 12-0 run to start the fourth quarter to make it 54-42 with less than seven minutes remaining.
• The Yellow Jackets never gave up and tried to fight back, but it wasn't enough as Anderson held on in the end.
• The Ravens held a slim margin in rebounds, 41-40.
• Defiance caused 14 turnovers, while only turning the ball over nine times.
