
Volleyball Spikes Anderson for HCAC Victory on Senior Night
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-15) victory over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Anderson University Wednesday night.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-15) victory over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Anderson University Wednesday night. The win marked the final home match for seniors Meghan Hinds, Marlea Rolander, Michelle Sikora and Jessica Tietje.
The Jackets were paced on offense by sophomore Chelsea Ludeman, who had 10 kills on 16 attacks. Tietje added seven kills to the attack, while Rolander and sophomore Alexis Piece both had five kills. Rolander also did damage from the service line with six aces, and at the net with five total blocks. Hinds posted three kills, and Sikora added one spike in the victory.
Freshman Alicia Kalik provided a game-high 30 assists in the victory and chipped in four kills and four blocks. Defensively, junior Lindsay McDaniel set the tone with 13 digs, while sophomore Christa Seidenstricker added another 11 for the Jackets.
Defiance overcame early deficits in the first two sets, but never lost the lead in the final frame en route to the victory. For the seniors, it was their 65th win as a group.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, October 26 at HCAC opponent Bluffton College. Match time is slated for 7:00 pm.
