
Volleyball Remains in First Place with Win Over Franklin
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College volleyball team remained perfect in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action by defeating Franklin College in straight sets, 3-0 (25-25, 25-15, 25-18). The win keeps the Jackets atop the HCAC standings.

Leading the charge for Defiance was senior Marlea Rolander, who posted 13 kills on 19 attacks. She also added a team-best four blocks. Sophomore Alexis Pierce also gave the Jackets a big day at the net with eight kills and three blocks. Sophomore Chelsea Ludeman added six kills on 11 swings in the victory.
Directing the offense was freshman Alicia Kalik, who finished the game with 40 assists. Kalik also gave the Jackets a boost on offense with nine kills. Defensively, the team was paced by freshman Jill Turner's 13 digs. Junior Lindsay McDaniel and freshman Stephanie Wilson each chipped in eight digs.
With the win, Defiance moves to 12-9 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
The first-place Yellow Jackets will return to the court on Saturday, October 8th when they play host to HCAC rival Mount Saint Joseph. Match time is set for 12:00 pm.
