
Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Seven Matches
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Defiance College volleyball team continued its hot streak by claiming two victories on the first day of the Carnegie Mellon Tournament.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Defiance College volleyball team continued its hot streak by claiming two victories on the first day of the Carnegie Mellon Tournament. The Yellow Jackets earned victories over Kings, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-19), and Scranton, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-18).
Senior Marlea Rolander led DC in the first game with 10 kills and three total blocks. Freshman Alicia Kalik paced the offense with 24 assists, and junior Lindsay McDaniel gave the Jackets a boost on defense with seven digs.
In the second game, senior Jessica Tietje had a team-best nine kills, while Kalik provided the Jackets with 27 assists. Defensively, Rolander collected five total blocks, and freshman Jill Turner chipped in a team-high 12 digs.
With the pair of victories, the Jackets improve their win streak to seven matches. During the streak, DC has won eight of its last nine matches.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, September 24th for the second day of the tournament. DC will face Mount Union at 10:00 am and DeSales at 12:00 pm.
