WHAC awards postseason honors for 2024 women's soccer campaign
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released the recipients of the 2024 women's soccer awards on Friday ahead of the league's conference tournament semifinals.
The categories announced by the WHAC include All-Conference Teams, players and coaches of the year, Champions of Character, and All-Academic Awards. The WHAC's All-Academic Team is made up of sophomores and above with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and above and in attendance at their institution for one full year. The Champions of Character Team includes one member from each school who exemplifies the five core values of the NAIA character initiative (integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership).
Defiance did not collect First or Second Team honors but placed three players on the academic all-conference team. All three Yellow Jackets are multi-year recipients of academic all-conference awards with seniors Lexi Coward (Findlay, Ohio/Findlay) and Jocelyn Peterson (Mount Cory/Cory-Rawson) each garnering their third academic honors. Also, junior McKenna Walker (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield) was named academic all-conference for the second time in her career.
Jocelyn Peterson received an additional award for the Yellow Jackets, representing Defiance College on the Champions of Character team. The honor was her first all-conference recognition outside of the academic awards.
Among the WHAC's All-Conference Awards, Sydney Shenk from Aquinas repeated as WHAC Offensive Player of the Year. Complete First and Second Team honorees, All-Newcomer Team and 2024 Women's Soccer Awards can be viewed here.
