DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets looked to end their final home game with a win for Senior Day against the Siena Heights Saints but ended up on the short end of a 6-0 score.
Defiance's three seniors, Lexi Coward, Alana Harrison, and Jocelyn Peterson, played their final home contest in front of a home crowd and stood strong in playing their last 90 minutes at home together.
The Turning Point
The Saints managed to break the game open in just the 10th minute of play off a shot from inside the box by Sarah Ammon, with Lily Tiplady receiving the assist. That would be the first of three goals in the first half with Ammon assisting Tiplady for the second and Maddi Daugherty scoring off a deflected shot taken by Cassie McNatt. The Saints would go on to score three consolation goals in the second half.
A Closer Look
- Taylor Osborne and Maddie Hert both stepped in net for the Jackets, combining for a total of 18 saves.
- This marked the 14th game where the three seniors all started together this season.
- Haley Hughes registered the lone shot for DC.
