Defensive first half broken open in the second by UNOH

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets suffered a tough loss to the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers by a score of 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Winsper Knobel Memorial Field.

The Yellow Jackets (0-11, 0-5 WHAC) played a very physical game not allowing the Racers (7-2-2, 5-0-0 WHAC) to get off clean shots. The Yellow Jackets' physicality caused problems for the Racers and it took until the 37th minute for them to put one in the net.

The Turning Point 
The Racers had chances to score with possession throughout the first half but Defiance shut down nearly every opportunity. Even with the goal in the 37th minute, UNOH struggled to find more. They managed to break through in the second half with a through ball by Nanna Rosengreen punch through the pipes by Chloe Fecher. With this goal, the Racers were able to break the game open and went on to score seven total goals in the second half. 

A Closer Look 

• Nanna Rosengreen had five assists for the Racers to tie a school record.
• The Yellow Jackets defenders put in work as they blocked 12 of the Racers' 57 shots.
• The Jackets kept the Racers scoreless until 36:08 into the match, which is the furthest into a game before their opponent's first goal. 
• The Racers managed to hit the post or crossbar on five separate occasions, the first in the 30th minute failing to break the scoreless deadlock.
