Women’s Soccer comes up short against Eureka in home opener

The Defiance women's soccer team fell to Eureka 1-0 in their home opener on Sunday afternoon.

Inside The Numbers

• Hallie Webb led Defiance with three shots and one on goal for the afternoon
• Melissa Bixler had two shots on the afternoon and both were on goal.
• Ryan Lay and Sarah O'Shea both worked a half at goalkeeper for Defiance.
• Brianna Snider had the best chance for Defiance but Eureka's goalkeeper made a
  spectacular save to preserve the shutout.
• Starting goalkeeper Lizzie Brooksher played all 90 minutes for Eureka and got the win.
• Jenna Kinney was all over the field for Eureka as she had 3 shots on the afternoon, two
  on goal, and scored the only goal of the contest.

• Eureka's Jenna Kinney scored in the 52nd minute to give Eureka the lead.
• Defiance had opportunities in the second half but could not push one across.
