
Women's Soccer Falls Despite Season High Shot Tally
NEW CONCORD, OHIO - Muskingum University played host to the Defiance College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon. Despite a statistically strong offensive afternoon for the Yellow Jackets, the Muskies were victorious by a 5-0 score.

Muskingum was off to a quick start, opening up scoring in the 8th minute. The Muskies quickly found the back of junior Madi Bowman's (Eaton / Eaton) net in the 9th minute to increase their lead to 2-0. At halftime, Muskingum had extended their lead to 4-0.
The Yellow Jackets had a strong offensive showing, taking a season high 16 shots on the day. Of the shots taken by the Purple and Gold, eight forced saves from the Muskie goalkeeper. Junior Whitney Webb (Troy / Troy) led the offensive charge for the Yellow Jackets, taking six shots on the day. Also tallying shots for the visitors were Lauren Perry (Northwood / Lake), Sarah Madaras (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Parchment), Kattie Settich (Huber Heights / Chaminade Julienne), Kat Wicher (Toledo / Whitmer), and Blake Newman (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi).
In goal for the Yellow Jackets, Bowman extended her starting streak to eight games, tallying four saves in the first forty-five minutes. Kiana Carpenter (Holmesville / Triway) stepped into the net for the Yellow Jackets in the second half. The junior added two saves to her stat she on the day.
The loss takes the Yellow Jacket record 0-8 on the 2018 campaign. The side is next in action Saturday September 29th as they travel to HCAC foe Franklin College for a 6:00 pm kickoff.
