The Yellow Jackets (0-1) defense put up a battle, but the offense was just unable to produce with only four shots on goal the entire night. Defiance fell behind early and the Quakers would tally five scoring in the first 45 minutes to boast a 5-0 lead at the intermission.
Entering the second period, the offense started to find some life as junior Eryn Porter (Defiance) almost found the back of the net early in the half, but her shot bounced off the goalpost. Just under two minutes later, she then again had another shot on goal, but was saved by the goalkeeper. With six minutes remaining in the game, sophomore Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green) put DC on the board, scoring the only goal on the night for the Yellow Jackets and ended a possible shutout bid.
