Moyer and Freels named to the Academic All-Ohio Teams

DEFIANCE, Ohio - A pair of Defiance College soccer players were named to the Academic All-Ohio teams this week.  Senior Luke Freels of the men's program and junior Chelsie Moyer of the women's program were placed on the Division III teams.

Moyer (Tipp City, Ohio / Tippecanoe) was named to the Academic All-Ohio Division III Second Team for her efforts on and off the field.  Moyer's 3.83 GPA was well deserving of the Second Team nod.  The Wellness and Corporate Fitness major played all 1,751 minutes this year for DC and put in one goal on the season.

Freels (Ludlow Falls, Ohio / Milton Union) was named to the Academic All-Ohio Division III Third Team after helping lead the Yellow Jackets to a 10-9 record.  The criminal justice major, who has a cumulative GPA of 3.73, played in a Defiance record 73 games throughout his career.  The defender was named to the Academic Team for his efforts not only on the field, but off as well.

The Academic All-Ohio Team is not the first award these two have received together.  Freels and Moyer were both also named to the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Teams in December.
