Defiance falls in overtime to Muskingum 3-2

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Defiance falls to Muskingum in overtime in an entertaining game.  Muskingum comes out the victor 3-2.

A quick goal made things difficult from the start as Muskingum scored within the first two minutes.  They were able to extend the lead to two goals as they found the net again before halftime.

The second half defense stepped up for Defiance, not allowing Muskingum to find the net again in regulation.  Lindsay Bubnick would step up huge for the Lady Jackets late in regulation.  Being down two goals, she took a free kick from 45 yards out and found goal.

One time was not enough for Bubnick, as just a short 90 seconds later she took another free kick from 45 yards out.  She found the net on this one also and single handedly tied up the score for Defiance.  Neither team would strike again as the score stayed at 2-2 by the end of regulation.

In overtime, Muskingum was able to strike quickly again to start off the extra time.  In just three minutes senior Raven Francis would make the game winning goal and give Muskingum the 3-2 win.

Muskingum was able to outshoot the Lady Jackets by a tally of 20-12 and 9-4 shots on goal.  Clara Zamora was able to saves five balls in goal for DC.

Defiance returns to action Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. against Rochester College at home.
