Lady Jackets Picked Sixth in HCAC Soccer poll
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College Women’s Soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the 2008 HCAC Preseason Poll. DC received 34 points in the poll, while placing three athletes on the HCAC Preseason Player-to-Watch list.

Transylvania edged out defending HCAC champion, Rose-Hulman, by three points to grab the top spot in the poll. Mount St. Joseph received three first-place votes on its way to a third-place selection, while Manchester and Hanover rounded out the top five.
Senior Sarah Plas was named to the HCAC Preseason Player-to-Watch list for the second consecutive season, after earning Second Team All-HCAC honors one year ago. Plas was joined on the list by classmate Kaitlin Monberg and sophomore Cherilyn Borkholder, a 2007 Second Team All-HCAC selection who led the team in scoring with six goals.
Defiance closed out the 2007 season winning seven of its last ten matches to finish 8-9 overall. Its eight victories tying the school mark for most victories in a season. The Jackets will look to build on that late success this season, returning seven starters from 2007.
DC will kick off the season against Oberlin in the opening game of the Defiance Classic on August 29 at 5:00 p.m.
