Vance turns in another top 10 in DC's final fall competition
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Defiance College women's golf completed the fall half of their 2024-25 schedule at the one-day Hornet Fall Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo on Monday. The Yellow Jackets posted a 405 round as a team and placed seventh among seven programs.
Isabelle Vance was Defiance's top golfer for the second straight tournament and turned in her second straight top 10 finish with an 86. The Miller City grad had a stellar front-nine of 40 that was finished by a birdie on the ninth hole. She played even-par over a six-hole stretch from the fifth through 10th to aid her round. Vance finished tied for sixth as four other golfers from Concordia and St. Mary-of-the-Woods were the top NAIA golfers in the field. Vance ended the fall season with an 85.1 18-hole average to lead the program.
Winter Boroff ended the day with an even 90 and played 14th to earn her fourth top-20 finish of the fall season. Boroff closed the fall narrowly behind Vance's season average at 85.3 per 18 holes.
Braylin Shaner continued to make strides and finished third among DC's team with a 112. Emily Momany was right behind her with a 117 followed by Hailey Becker at 137.
Kalamazoo won the team crown at 328 for the tournament, 18 strokes better than St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Kalamazoo also claimed the top three spots on the individual leaderboard as Nadia Zerlaut posted the lone score under 80 to earn medalist with a 79.
