Women's Basketball defeated by Ohio Wesleyan

The Defiance College Women's Basketball team was defeated in a non-conference game this evening against Ohio Wesleyan at the Branch Rickey Arena in Delaware, Ohio. The final score was 67-43.

Inside The Numbers

• Senior Taylor Day led the Yellow Jackets with 10 points and 3 rebounds.

• Seniors Lexie Sparks and Lauren Criblez each added 4 points and 2 rebounds.

• Freshmen Aliza Clark, Kloey Webb, Taylor Bates, and Chyna Trois saw game action for the first time. 

• As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 50% from the free throw line.

• Defiance shot and made 15-48 shot attempts, shooting overall 31.3% from the field. 

• Kasey Schipfer led the way for the Bishops by recording a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds. 

• Elizabeth Homan added in 11 assists for the Bishops. 

• Overall, Ohio Wesleyan shot 4-6 from the Free Throw Line, shooting 66.7% overall.

• Ohio Wesleyan went 9-27 from behind the arc, shooting 33.3% in Three Point Field Goals. 

The Difference

• Ohio Wesleyan took the lead at the end of the first quarter, 14-10 and used the momentum to go on a seven-point run to begin the second quarter. 

• Following the half, the Bishops maintained their momentum by starting the third quarter with a 13-point run and taking a 50-25 lead over the Yellow Jackets. 

• The Bishops held their largest lead in the third quarter, 26, and outscored the Yellow Jackets by 14 in the third quarter.  

• Both teams recorded a total of 16 points from the bench. 

• Defiance recorded 27 Defensive Rebounds to Ohio Wesleyan's 26.
