Women's Basketball overpowers Earlham in 80-64 win

The Defiance women's basketball team defeated Earlham by a score of 80-64 on Wednesday night in HCAC play.

• Records: Defiance (8-5, 3-4), Earlham (0-12, 0-5)

Inside The Numbers

• Junior Taylor Steinbrunner scored a game-high 19 points, going nearly perfect (7-of-8) from the field and 3-of-4 on three-pointers. Steinbrunner also made both the free throws she took.
• Junior Lexie Sparks added 12 points and grabbed five rebounds while sophomore McKenzie Cooper scored 11. 
• Sophomore Cait Good led Defiance with six rebounds.
• As a team, the Yellow Jackets went 31-of-59 (.525) from the field and shot 9-of-20 (.450) from the three-point line.
• Neely Trenshaw led Earlham with 17 points followed by Janaiya Bright who scored 13 off the bench.
• Amari Bradford added 11 and Kinzi Brooks scored 10.
• As a team, the Quakers went 26-of-76 (.371) from the field and made 6-of-15 (.400) three-pointers.

The Difference

• The Yellow Jackets controlled the game from start to finish, outscoring the Quakers 22-12 in the first quarter and 42-24 at halftime.
• Defiance outrebounded Earlham 39-22. 
• The Yellow Jackets bench outscored Earlham's 36-16.
• Defiance scored 21 points off 15 turnovers and recorded eight steals.
