Women's Basketball conquers Kalamazoo in road contest

The Defiance women's basketball team conquered Kalamazoo on the road in non-conference action on Thursday night, 71-47.

• Junior Lexie Sparks led the Yellow Jackets off the bench with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
• Junior Taylor Steinbrunner added 11 points going 3-for-3 from the three-point line.
• Sophomore McKenzie Cooper chipped in ten points and recorded five rebounds on the night.
• As a team, Defiance went 26-of-68 (.382) from the field and shot 10-of-22 (.455) from behind the arc.

• Both teams played the first quarter very tightly as Defiance held a slight 14-11 lead.
• The Yellow Jackets exploded in the second quarter scoring 29 points and took a big 43-21 lead at the half.
• Defiance continued their momentum from the first half and never looked back taking the big victory, 71-47.
• The Yellow Jackets outrebounded Kalamazoo, 49-40.
