Women's basketball defeated by Manchester

The Defiance women's basketball team suffered their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss of the season on Wednesday night falling to Manchester 68-58.

Inside The Numbers

• Sophomore McKenzie Cooper led Defiance with career-high 14 points off the bench.
• Junior Taylor Steinbrunner added 13 points while junior Lexie Sparks chipped in 10 off the bench.
• Junior Lauren Criblez led all players with seven rebounds while Sparks and senior Nysha Speed each grabbed six boards.
• Junior Nicole Sims dished out a game-leading six assists.
• The Yellow Jackets went 22-of-52 (.423) from the floor and 6-of-16 (.375) from the three-point line.
• The Spartan offense was led by Macy Miller who scored a game-high 17 points
• Miranda Bieghler chipped in with 15 points and Bridget Nash added 13. 
• The Spartans shot 23-of-54 (.426) from the floor and 5-of-15 (.333) from the three-point line.

The Difference

• The Yellow Jackets took an early lead 22-12 lead in the first quarter.
• The Spartans cut the lead down two by outscoring Defiance 17-9 in the second quarter.
• Manchester had a strong second half to pull off a 68-58 win.
