- Speed led Defiance with 22 points and recorded a career-high 15 rebounds.
- Steinbrunner added 12 points on the afternoon and snatched a career-best 12 rebounds.
- Junior Lauren Criblez and junior Lexie Sparks each chipped in nine points.
- Sophomore Kylie Brinkman also added seven points for the Yellow Jackets.
- Defiance finished the game shooting 23-of-61 (.377) from the floor and 5-of-14 (.357) from the three-point line.
- Maddie Rzepka led St. Mary's with ten points for the game.
- The Belles ended the contest going 22-of-61 (.361) from the field and 7-of-21 (.333) from behind the arc.
The Difference
- The Yellow Jackets started off fast with a 9-2 run in the first five minutes of the contest.
- The Belles went on a 14-4 run to take the lead and finish the first quarter up 16-13.
- Both teams battled back-and-forth in the second quarter and saw St. Mary's take a 33-25 lead into halftime.
- Defiance battled back to take a 36-35 lead with four minutes left in the third quarter.
- Both teams traded leads throughout the rest of the third quarter and saw the Belles take a two-point 43-41 lead in the all important fourth quarter.
- The Yellow Jackets started the fourth quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 52-43 lead.
- Defiance held off St. Mary's for the rest of the game to take the victory, 65-53.
- The Yellow Jackets controlled the glass, out rebounding the Belles, 48-24.
- Defiance made most of their second chances going 22-0 in second chance points.
