
Siena Heights escapes Defiance in five innings
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Siena Heights Saints visited Defiance College for the second time this season on Tuesday afternoon and defeated the Yellow Jackets 20-3 in five innings, claiming the series 2-0.
The Saints traveled to DC for their regularly scheduled Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader back on March 29, but game two was postponed due to rainy weather conditions. Siena Heights took the first contest 14-7.
Through each of the five innings at-bat, the visiting team notched 16 hits and 20 runs, trifling through their lineup five times, and holding Defiance scoreless with four hits. At the bottom of the fifth, with Ali Mowen on base after a single to left field, the Yellow Jackets took off on a two-out rally by earning three more hits and as many runs. A close-call popup to the catcher from Avery Roever ended the contest after five.

Extra base hits – each doubles – belonged to Linn, Morgan Scott, Kaylee Heath and Avery Roever. This was Roever's first XBH of the season.

Heath (3b), Madison Guggenbiller (1b) and Anna Emswiler (catch) were each responsible for double plays.

Devyn Hamilton (starting), Emma Rodgers (2.0 IP), Craft (2.1 IP) and Taighen Zipfel (0.2 IP) each pitched for the Yellow Jackets. Hamilton took the loss and is now 0-5 on the season.
