Defiance College Softball names Makayla McAvoy as assistant coach

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College softball team recently added another DC alum to the coaching staff. Makayla McAvoy accepted the position as the assistant coach at the beginning of the year, under the reign of Head Coach Megan Warren. 

McAvoy returns to Defiance College from California State University - Chico where she served as Athletic Training Graduate Assistant and earned a Master of Kinesiology degree with an athletic training education option. 

While at Defiance, Makayla was a four year softball player for the Yellow Jackets, where she appeared in 128 games, recorded 66 hits and an on base percentage of .338. She graduated in May of 2016 from Defiance College with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.

 "It is truly an honor to be back at my alma mater," McAvoy commented. "I am excited to be a part of the coaching staff for the program that helped mold me. The Spring is quickly approaching and I am ready to get started. And as always Go Yellow Jackets!!"
