Defiance College Softball Announces Winter Camp Schedule

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College softball team will host two camps in the winter of 2020. The Winter Clinic Series will take place Feb. 9th, while the Winter Prospect Camp will be held Mar. 1st.

The 17th annual Winter Clinic Series is open to athletes in grades K-12. The camp is designed to allow players to develop their skills with the help of the DC coaching staff and players. The camp will be run similar to one of the Defiance College practices and campers will be instructed in all aspects of the game including hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running. 

The Yellow Jacket softball team will also hosting a prospect camp. The prospect camp is open to players who will be graduating from high school in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. The camp will allow participants to take instruction from Defiance College coaches while also playing in live competition. 

The Purple and Gold finished the 2019 season 21-18 overall and ranked among the top in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in offensive production. The Yellow Jackets finished third in the HCAC with a .311 batting average led by freshman all-conference honoree and Freshman of the Year, Kalin Hubble. As a team, Defiance tallied 181 RBI, 327 hits, 202 runs, 29 home runs and a .465 slugging percentage.
