DC Finishes Seventh In HCAC Championships
SHELBYVILLE, IND. – The Defiance College men’s cross country team traveled to Shelbyville, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which were hosted by Franklin (Ind.) College and finished seventh with a team score of 193 points.
SHELBYVILLE, IND. – The Defiance College men's cross country team traveled to Shelbyville, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which were hosted by Franklin (Ind.) College and finished seventh with a team score of 193 points.
Defiance was led by junior Clayton Bruggeman (St. Henry) who finished 17th with a time of 27:11.0. Junior Zach Roush (Nashville, Ind. /Brown County) had the second fastest time for the team with 28:43.8, crossing the line 43rd. Juniors Colin Krick (Hicksville) and Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) finished in 28:52.6 and 31:00.2, respectively. Rounding out the scoring times for Defiance was freshman Stephan Beasley (Westerville/Oakstone Academy) who crossed the line in 31:06.4. Freshman Daren Gies (Plymouth) and junior John Seeley (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. /Sault Area) also competed for Defiance and finished with a time of 32:25.8 and 32:54.4, respectively.
At the conclusion of the race, Bruggeman garnered honorable mention All-HCAC and Beasley was placed on the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Defiance will return to action on Saturday Nov. 14 when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the NCAA Division III Regionals, hosted by Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
