Davis, Parrett lead way for DC at Hokum Karem
MANCHESTER, Ind. - Yellow Jackets cross country runners Joe Davis and Troy Parrett led the way for Defiance College in the 2013 Hokum Karem meet, finishing sixth place overall. DC took fourth place in the team competition.

Davis and Parrett took sixth overall in the 12,800 meter race, finishing in with a time of 41:24.00.
Defiance's pairing of Josh Hilton and Colin Krick finished 15th overall, crossing the line in a time of 43:19.00. Andrew Senecal and Adam Grillot were the final scorers for the Yellow Jackets finishing in 19th with a time of 43:44.00, just behind an Anderson University (43:42.00) pairing for the closest gap in the race. Senecal and Grillot came finished just ahead of teammates Jacob Rindler and Clayton Bruggeman (43:48.00) as well.
The Yellow Jackets top three tandem teams combined for 31 points, taking fourth place behind Manchester (1, 8 points), Indiana Tech (2, 19), and Indiana University Purdue University at Fort Wayne (3, 22).
Jacob Merryfield and Zach Roush finished 23rd in the event, crossing in with a time of 44:35.00. Joe Hilton and Billy Platter rounded out the event for Defiance, finishing 24th with a 44:43.00.
The Yellow Jackets cross country team will return to action Friday with the first individual competition of the year for the team. They will host the Defiance Duals on Sept. 6 at Defiance College.
