Davis sets PR and DC record to lead DC in Wilmington Classic
WILMINGTON, Ohio – Joe Davis led the way for the Defiance College Yellow Jackets Men’s Cross Country team Friday afternoon at the Wilmington #JennaStrong Fall Classic, breaking his own record.
WILMINGTON, Ohio – Joe Davis led the way for the Defiance College Yellow Jackets Men's Cross Country team Friday afternoon at the Wilmington #JennaStrong Fall Classic, breaking his own record.
Davis finished 16th out of 416 runners from 36 schools that represented all three divisions of the NCAA. The senior crossed the line with a DC record time of 25:43.21, topping his own time set earlier this year of 25:44.60 at the Calvin Invitational.
Josh Hilton took second for the Yellow Jackets in the event, scoring 71st place overall with a 26:59.30.
Troy Parrett finished third for Defiance in the final meet of the regular season. Parrett crossed the line with a time of 28:24.69 to score 152nd place.
Clayton Bruggeman came in fourth for DC in the 8k race. The freshman finished in 167th place overall with a time of 28:44.38.
Colin Krick rounded out the scoring for DC in the event, crossing the line with a 28:48.88. Krick finished 172nd overall in the event.
DC finished in 23rd overall, scoring 575 points. The Yellow Jackets averaged 27:44.10 among the scoring runners.
The Yellow Jackets will now set their sights on the HCAC Championships on November 2. DC will host the championship race, which is set to begin at noon on the campus's athletic complex.
