Krick finished with a first place time of 25:57.8 that shattered the old record of 26:17 set by Justin Perkins last season.
In the race, Krick set a new personal record with the time and was the only runner to finish under 26 minutes in the 8K event. The Antwerp, Ohio native blew away his previous best time of 27:18.8 by over one minute and twenty seconds.
Krick did not have the only strong performance on the afternoon, as junior Joe Davis also ran extremely well to a fourth place finish, at a time of 26:35.6. The run was Davis's second fastest at Defiance, as he missed beating his record by seven seconds.
Other top harriers for DC were sophomore Josh Hilton and junior Madison Murphy who came in 19thand 22nd place, respectively. Hilton ended with a time of 27:38.3, while Murphy finished at 27:47.1.
All in all, the DC men's cross country team ran their best meet on the young season, as they finished third overall with a score of 78 points, narrowly missing second place to Lake Erie College at 76. It was a balanced effort for the squad, as six of seven runners finished in the top 37. Also, runners Troy Parrett, Adam Grillot, and Jacob Whisler set personal best times of their own to add to the great outing.
The Yellow Jackets are off next weekend and will return to action Saturday, September 29 when they compete at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.
