
Horvath sets new program record in 300-meter dash, Fortman wins 1500 at Ashland
ASHLAND, Ohio - The Defiance College track and field team competed in its third meet of the indoor season and saw multiple Yellow Jackets hit personal bests.
Among the marks set was a new program indoor record by Defiance native Mira Horvath who ran the 300-meter dash in 42.67 seconds, which resulted in a seventh-place finish. The men's team saw another former DHS Bulldog, Eli Fortman, highlight the competition with a victory in the 1200-meter run.
Women's competitors who set new personal bets included Shelby Clements with a 47.17 in the 300-meter dash, Amanda Barnes with a weight throw of 9.37 meters, and Amira Knight with a 4.15-meter long jump. Zawadi Debola ran the 1200 meters for the first time while Rakel Thompson took home ninth in her first 300-meter race.
On the men's side, Marcus Snell ran his first 300-meter dash in under 37 seconds and was followed closely by Tyjon Mance. Both male throwers each set personal bests during the meet. David Heidelburg's 12.57-meter weight throw and 10.51 shot put were his best marks as he embarks on his second season with the program. Freshman Cole Armstrong threw his best weight of the season at 10.53 meters.

The next meet for DC track and field is scheduled for next Saturday at Wittenberg. The Steemer Showcase is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Wittenberg HWA Complex.
