Jackets give a scrappy effort on Senior Day but lose 3-1
Defiance, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets battled in a tough matchup on Senior Day, losing 3-1 to the Siena Heights Saints on Saturday afternoon at Winsper Knobel Memorial Field.
The Yellow Jackets (0-17-0, 0-11-0 WHAC) put up a tough fight against the Saints (2-14-2, 1-9-2) and had chances to take this one but ended up on the wrong end. DC honored their six seniors prior to the contest with Zach Canterbury, Tyler Fritchley, Will Gehlhausen, Zak Klopfenstein, Jack Stanoikovich, and Noah Svanberg taking the field on the last Saturday home game of the season.
The Turning Point
Down by three goals in the 78th minute, the Yellow Jackets managed to score but were called offsides, a controversial call that waved off the goal. With this not going the Jackets' way, they stayed hard-pressed to score and managed to do so in the 84th minute with Tyler Fritchley finding the back of the net, being assisted by Jack Stanoikovich. However, the Jackets ran out of time on their comeback as they were unable to find the back of the net again, dropping this game in a hard-fought fashion.
