
Yellow Jackets drop road contest at Rochester Christian
ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Defiance Yellow Jackets suffered a difficult 5-1 loss on the road against the Rochester Christian Warriors on Wednesday as the 2024 season winds down.
The Yellow Jackets (0-16, 0-10 WHAC) were the aggressors in this game as they took more shots but were unable to be as efficient as the Warriors (3-9-2, 3-6-2 WHAC) in finding the net.
The Turning Point
The Warrior wasted no time in this game as Dmitar Stankovic got them on the board with their first shot of the game in the third minute of play. The Warriors would go on to score two more goals before the 16th minute on their 3rd and 5th shots of the game to build a 3-0 lead. Defiance managed to pose a threat this time putting up five shots of their own but were unable to capitalize on their chances.
Ilan Nathan posted the Yellow Jackets lone goal shortly after half time in the 52nd minute. However, the Jackets could not strike again as the Warriors managed two consolation goals of their own to give them a 5-1 victory.
A Closer Look
- Ilan Nathan's 52nd-minute goal was his first of the season and also the first of his collegiate career.
- Defiance's 26 shots were the most of the season as a team as they managed to outshoot the Warriors, 26-20
- Will Gelhausen led the charge for the Yellow Jackets in terms of shots with seven and three on goal, while Ilan Nathan followed with six and two on goal. Anthony Tomaszewski, Jack Stanoikovich, Tyler Fritchley, Oscar Olivier and Griffin Meyer all had multiple shots on goal.
- Rochester Christian posted their second consecutive win after defeating UM-Dearborn on Saturday. All three of the team's victories have occurred in the month of October.

The Yellow Jackets host Siena Heights on Saturday for their penultimate home game of the season, kickoff is at 3:30 P.M. and the contest will also be senior day for the Yellow Jacket soccer programs.
