DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets dropped an 8-0 decision to the Aquinas Saints on Saturday in what ended up being a physical and scrappy game.
The Yellow Jackets (0-10, 0-4 WHAC) looked to get in the win column for the first time against the Saints on Saturday, but a slew of goals near the end of the first half put the Saints (6-3, 2-2 WHAC) comfortably ahead. Defiance was unable to score for the fifth straight match.
The Turning Point
The Saints scored a scrappy goal in just the second minute of the game by Milan Hoeffnagel. Aquinas was dormant for quite some time as Tristan Frazzini made save after save for the Yellow Jackets. In the 29th minute, the Saints broke through again off a penalty from Ricardo Rittersberger, which was followed by another three in the first half to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the half.
A Closer Look
- Tristan Frazzini had his most saves of the season with 14 as he made several impressive stops in the process.
- The teams were very aggressive as they had a combined 15 fouls and 4 yellow cards.
- Aquinas outshot Defiance 35-6 in the match but just eight of those attempts by the Saints were on frame.
