The Cougars stayed consistent with a pair of goals in each half, while limiting the Yellow Jackets to just three shots-on-goal.
The Turning Point
Defiance's defense held strong to begin the game as Mount Vernon Nazarene shot 11 times before notching its first goal in the 27th minute. The Yellow Jackets attempted to get on the board and avoid a shutout at the 82:45 mark, but Quinn Holtzapple's shot was saved by Brayden Pierson. Pierson's perfect day contributed to Mount Vernon Nazarene's first win on the season.
