
Yellow Jackets fall in dual match at Indiana Tech
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Defiance College men's golf tangled with the Indiana Tech Warriors on Wednesday for an 18-hole dual match at the Donald Ross Golf Course in Fort Wayne. The Warriors won the team head-to-head competition by shooting a 295 against DC's 313.
Indiana Tech freshman Jaxon Richmond claimed medalist honors with one-over-par 73, followed by a trio of 74s to round out the team scorecard. For Defiance, Jordan Walford led the way with a 76 with twin 38s to set a new personal best for his first season in purple and gold. Noah Leslie (78) and Zack Palmer (79) each broke 80 as well. Sophomore Bretton Basford shot his lowest score of his career with an 80, including a 39 on his second trip around the nine-hole course. Alex Moritz made his college debut for the Yellow Jackets and completed the day with a round of 83. Sam Boyles shot 86 and Brenden Garvin completed his round with an 89.
The next meet for the Yellow Jackets will be held on Friday and Saturday at Tecumseh Country Club in Michigan. Hosted by Adrian College, the Irish Hills Invitational will tee off at 11 a.m. each day.
